THE FIRST STEP IN POWERING UP YOUR IMAGE -POSTURE-IS ALMOST INVISIBLE!

POSTURE- The first step to polishing up that image you see in the mirror is less complicated than you  may think.   Possibly, right now,  you are dreaming of the “old me”– the one with all the energy and time.  That gal who had shoes and purses to match every outfit and never went out with out at least a simple pair of earrings.  Is that a long time ago?  Never?  If you are like most women, you have been racing through life and haven’t really paid much attention to such a minute detail as today’s topic.

WHAT PEOPLE NOTICE MAY SURPRISE YOU

While building on your Rolodex of talent and experience,  your first step toward that goal may seem like an insignificant aspect.  Start today and take note of the people you see.  Rather than looking at what they wear, watch how they stand, how they walk and the flow of movement that is almost noticeably confident.

EXERCISES FOR BETTER POSTURE

Yes, the way you carry yourself will make more difference to your” up-date” of “ME” than any other one factor!   Your BRAND is perceived immediately by the way that you stand.  The exercises in this episode require no equipment and no pain.  Simply put a chair in front of a full length mirror and program your brain.  The changes will be noteworthy!

STAND UP BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO WALK

Before you speak a word, the way that you walk creates a profile that distinguishes you!  This lesson is about the  first  of 2 things:

  1. Posture
  2. Movement

POSTURE IS FOREMOST

 WHEN YOU THINK POSTURE, FIRST CREATE A VISUAL IMAGE

When I think of standing or sitting comfortably straight, it helps to think of the body like a marionette.   While visualizing the string coming from the top of your head, tuck the chin slightly in.  With shoulders  lining the arms by the side of the torso,  the belly button will consequently become “best friends” with your spine.  Next, tuck your pelvic bones forward a bit and you will feel the balance all the way down to the the crescent-shaped weight-bearing area of your feet.

COMPARE YOUR BODY TO A MARIONETTE TO EMPHASIS PERFECT POSTURE

Practice standing up and sitting down.  While standing, roll your body down like a rag doll (if you can) and, as you stand, feel that string pulling you up!  Already, you have set yourself apart. You are almost ready to walk!

Non-Verbal Communication Tip

In Canada and the U.S., making eye contact is interpreted as showing concentrated interest, politeness and a sign of self-confidence. Look into the other person’s eyes for 4 or 5 seconds, blink normally, smile and nod accordingly. Learning the varying methods of the non-verbal communication will become your “go-to” skill set!
